Every audience has a flipside.
You want an audience that is smart and understands art? Then you also want an audience that is critical and has high standards.
You want an audience base that is young and energetic? Then you also want one that is used to spending their disposal income on things other then traditional art events (i.e. plays, art exhibitions).
You want an audience base that is loyal? Then you also want one that is going to resist change. Doesn't mean that they will not change. It just means it will not be easy.
We work in a people business. People are messy. They are complicated. They want contradictory things. Success comes from embracing and respecting that complexity.
There is no such thing as a perfect audience. Make the choice of the audience you want and get ready for the flipside.
