Before I did this, I was a lawyer.
A life in the law teaches you things, some good, some not so good. One very useful thing that the law taught me was this:
There is always opposition.
It doesn't matter how solid your idea is. There will always be people who are against the idea. It can be difficult for artists to embrace this concept.
We feel like art is such a noble concept that we are shocked when people don't want to see it or support it financially. That can cause us to take our setbacks more personally then we should.
Life will go smoother if you embrace the idea that there will always be an opponent.
There will always be someone who says you don't deserve the investment, the time, the effort, the support.
Don't take it personal. It isn't personal. It's just the nature of the world.
See it as a problem (just a problem) that can (and will) be overcome.
