Yesterday I got an email from someone inviting me a program ran by the Disney Institute. It is their version of a corporate training program.
We are seeing this more and more, groups like Pixar, restaurant owner Danny Meyer and others are creating programs to help train people in the unique way they identify and solve challenges.
It reminded me that great organizations (of all types) achieve greatness because they think a certain way. Pixar doesn't create great movies just because they have top level animation talent.
They create great movies because they have developed a process . . . a way of thinking . . . that allows them to consistently overcome the barriers that stop people from doing their best work.
Could someone create a class around how you and your team solve problems and create art? If they couldn't, what does that say about your group?
