Here we go.
1. See that box on the top right hand side of this blog? If you haven't done so already, enter your email into it. You should even do that if you already get the blog via an RSS feed.
2. Soon, you'll get an email from me that has a link to download my ebook, Authentic Arts Marketing. There will also be a code to save money on the download. If I have your email you'll spend less then $10 on the book. If I don't have your email, you'll spend more then $10. You'll also have a chance to get the book earlier then anyone else. So again, give me the email.
3. I don't do spam. That should obvious. You'll get an email with the link and the discount code. Then a thank you email. That's it. Once you get those things, feel free to remove yourself from the list. It would be cool if you stayed, but it's your call.
4. The sign up window closes on March 15. But do it now. It would make me happy.

Alright, so what's the book about?
It's a guide to creating marketing that tells the world about your artistic purpose and values, not just that the event you have coming up next week.
By the end of it, my hope is that you'll have some tangible ideas on how to stop selling (your art) and start telling the world what you believe.
I think this is important because the market for stuff, even stuff as awesome as your art, is finite.
But as my man Hugh says, the market for something to believe in is infinite.
So really it's a book about how to market in a way that moves you from a finite market to an infinite one.
I wrote the book for these audiences:
1. Individual artists looking to self produce their work or just take control of their marketing.
2. Members of arts organizations, particularly small and midsized ones, that are looking to establish and advance themselves. It doesn't matter whether you are for profit or nonprofit.
3. Anybody who is curious about how art and marketing can work together in a way that advances both.
The book has the sort of fleshed out thinking that I can't manage in a blog post. It also has some exercises that you and your team can do that I hope will make the concepts clear.
The book is going to pretty short. Less then 80 pages probably. I did this on purposes, because when you are writing a short book you have to get to the point fast and explain it using as few words as possible. It's not a lot of pages, but there is a lot in the pages.
I'm going to ask you guys for one favor. If you have benefited from this blog, tell a friend/colleague about the blog and encourage them to sign up for the book. As I mention in the book, sometimes you need to directly tell people what you need.
What I need is for those of you who believe in the concepts we talk about on this blog to tell people. Put it on your Facebook page. Tell people about the book on your Twitter feed.
The book will be ready for download soon. I'm excited (and nervous) as hell about it.
I'm taking a few days off to put the finishing touches on the book. New posts on Wednesday. Arts Marketing 101 returns next Friday.
Thank you for posting this!
Another link that your readers might be interested in is the Texas Commission on the Arts study which concretely shows how investing in the arts improves business outcomes. I thought they made a very good case for the business donor, which might help you in your next run for sponsorships for your events. The link is below.
