Thanks to everyone for expressed their excitement about my upcoming ebook. I'm in a position where I can share a few more details about it
The book is tentatively titled: Authentic Arts Marketing - A Practical Guide To Marketing That Advances Your Mission (Not Just Your Work)
The ebook is going to make the case that the best way to effectively market art in a crowded, competitive world is by taking the focus away from your play/book/CD/whatever and directing attention toward your greater purpose also known as your mission. Then it will provide tangible examples on how you can do that.
Hopefully, by the end of the ebook, you'll be convinced that marketing doesn't have to be a necessary evil, or a distraction from the art itself. It can something that is authentic. It can something that expresses the best of you and it can have a meaningful impact on the people who engage with your marketing
The plan is to get the ebook out by the middle of March.

When I originally announced the ebook, I mentioned that subscribers to my blog would get a chance to purchase the ebook first and also get a promo code for a discount.
Turns out that I can only give that discount to people who subscribe to get my blog via email. I don't have contact info for those of you who get the blog via RSS.
So here's what I'm going to do. A few days before the ebook is ready I'll do a blog post letting everyone know exactly when it's coming. In that post I'll encourage everyone (even those who get the blog via a RSS reader) to sign up to get the blog via email.
Once you get the promo code from me, you should feel free to remove yourself from the email list. I have no problem with people signing up just to get the code and then leaving the list.
If you want to go ahead and sign up now, type your email into the box on the right.

For my Chicago peeps I wanted to remind you about the training I have coming up with the Community Media Workshop on March 4th. It's Called "Taking Social Media To The Next Level" and is designed for those who are already fairly fluent in the language of social media but need to devise a strategy to make those tools really work effectively for their business.
It's going to be a serious workshop. Hope some of you can be there.
I've got a few more presentations coming up and you can keep a track of those things by clicking the Upcoming Events link.
Alright, back to work. Oh and I haven't forgotten about Marketing 101. It returns next Friday.
The platforms are aimed at two different sets of people. If you want ease-of-use on a hosted platform, TypePad may be a good solution for you. If you want infinite control over every aspect of your installation and templates, perhaps WordPress should be your platform of choice.
