On May 19, I posted An Open Letter to Arts Administrators. In the post I suggested that you give yourself a year to do one of two things:
1. Make at least one significant, positive, change within the organization or
2. Find a new job.
A lot of you emailed me saying that you would use that year to make a change.
Consider this a friendly reminder:
You have nine months left.
I know, time flies.
------------------------------
Here's some things to consider if you are fighting for change within your organization:
1. Pick a change worth fighting for - It doesn't need to be a big change, but it needs to be meaningful enough that you are willing to go to the wall for it.
2. Be clear about what you want - As we are learning in our political environment, clarity about the change you are looking for is key.
3. Stick to the timetable - 9 months. Seriously. Don't waver on this. You can make something meaningful happen in 9 months. You can find a new career in nine months. Stay on your path.
