Theatre, dance, music and visual art are as old as time itself.
But forming organizations that produce those sorts of things under the 501c(3) banner, i.e. nonprofit status is still a fairly new thing.
That's not something that really became wide spread until the late 1960's, early 1970's.
My point is that things like arts administration, being a grass roots arts organization, etc. are still fairly new concepts.
We all still have a lot to learn about the complex world we have chosen to be in.
So if, like me, seem to spend most of your time figuring out how the hell any of this is supposed to work . . . I think that's a good thing.
Confusion is the first step to enlightenment.
