Some in the arts feel that programming decisions and marketing decisions are two separate departments.
They aren't.
Artistic programming decisions are Marketing decisions. Meaning the type of work you do goes a LONG way toward determining the audience you get.
It even goes beyond marketing and into identity and policy. In the recently released Wolf and Brown study on audience impact, they drop this little gem - "constituency definition is the highest level policy decision that an arts organization can make." That constituency definition happens the moment you begin to choose programming.

Personally I would put a lovely bench so all the squirrels could use it and maybe add a mini bar and a Jacuzzi at a later date just for the wildlife though!
